Financial Accounting Fundamentals, Grade 11

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and procedures of accounting. Students develop skills in financial analysis, decision-making, and the preparation and interpretation of accounting information for service and merchandising businesses.

Throughout the course, students explore computerized accounting, financial statements, ethics, and current issues in accounting while developing practical skills that support future studies and career opportunities in business, finance, and related fields.

This course develops students’ understanding of the properties and behaviour of matter and the quantitative relationships involved in chemical systems. Through laboratory investigations, problem-solving, mathematical analysis, and scientific inquiry, students strengthen their ability to analyze chemical processes, communicate scientific ideas, and connect chemistry to technology, health, society, and the environment.

This course deepens students’ understanding of living systems and the biological processes that support life. Students explore topics including biodiversity, evolution, genetics, the structure and function of animals, and the anatomy, growth, and function of plants.

This course develops the literacy, communication, and critical-thinking skills students need for success in senior secondary school, postsecondary studies, and everyday life. Students explore a variety of literary, informational, and media texts from different periods, cultures, and perspectives.

Throughout the course, students strengthen their abilities in reading, writing, oral communication, and media literacy while learning to communicate clearly, analyze ideas critically, and use language effectively for different audiences and purposes.

Functions Grade 11

This course develops students’ understanding of functions by extending their knowledge of linear and quadratic relationships. Students investigate polynomial, rational, trigonometric, and exponential functions and explore how these relationships can be represented algebraically, numerically, and graphically.

Through problem-solving and mathematical reasoning, students strengthen their ability to analyze functions, solve equations, investigate inverse relationships, and apply mathematical concepts to a variety of real-world and abstract situations.
