Grade 10 Science

This course deepens students’ understanding of key concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth and space science. Students explore topics including cells and systems, chemical reactions, climate change, and the interaction of light and matter while examining connections between science, technology, society, and the environment.

Through scientific inquiry and investigation, students strengthen their skills in planning experiments, analyzing information, solving problems, and communicating scientific ideas. The course provides a strong foundation for further study in senior science courses.

Principles of Mathematics, Grade 10

This course develops students’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and algebraic skills through the study of quadratic relations, linear systems, analytic geometry, and trigonometry. Students investigate mathematical relationships and apply their learning to a variety of practical and abstract problems.

Throughout the course, students strengthen their ability to reason mathematically, use appropriate technology, communicate their thinking, and solve multi-step problems with accuracy and confidence.

This course strengthens the reading, writing, oral communication, media literacy, and critical-thinking skills students need for success in secondary school and beyond. Students explore a variety of literary, informational, and media texts from contemporary and historical contexts while learning to interpret, analyze, and evaluate ideas and perspectives.

Students also develop their ability to communicate clearly and effectively for different audiences and purposes through written, oral, and media-based work. The course provides important preparation for senior English studies and future academic pathways.
